Therapy Groups

Group therapy is a very powerful and effective process for working on life issues and improving relational skills in the supportive community of others who are there for the same reason. If you are ready for it, group therapy is one of the most effective forms of therapy available. This is because a therapy group has the multiple resources provided by other members. The group becomes a microcosm of each member’s social world—a sort of “real-time” laboratory in which to experience and investigate one’s responses to events and to other people and to experiment with new behavior with the help of therapists and other members

I currently have two on-going therapy groups accepting new members. If you are interested in either of these groups, please contact me and I will be happy to answer your questions by phone and meet with you in person free of charge if that seems appropriate after our phone conversation.

1. Weekly Co-ed Adult Psychotherapy Group. This is a current on-going group, co-facilitated with Babs Glover, M.A. (see her TherapySearch profile). Mondays 9:30-11:30 a.m. $210-$270 per month. Minimum 3-month commitment.

2. Weekly Men’s Group. This is a newly forming weekly therapy group for men (call or email Peter for start date or more information). Being male in our current culture means being wounded. We men all carry within us a deep longing for connection with our brothers, our fathers and our tribal fathers. For these reasons, the opportunity for healing and growth in a community of other men is great and maybe even necessary. Group members will have the opportunity to explore issues of importance in their lives, past and present, and will naturally develop greater emotional expressiveness in the unique and accepting company of other men. We will utilize group discussion and action-oriented therapy and create our own unique rituals as well. Wednesdays, 4:30-6:30 p.m., $250 per month. Minimum 3-month commitment.
