My rate is $110.00 per hour, or $150 for an extended session. I am a preferred provider for many insurance plans, including Medicare. Even if I am out of your insurance network, I will handle the billing for you.

Therapy Styles:
My intention for my work is to create a space for conversations that are warm and collaborative, and that are respectful of your individual values, goals, and preferences. I hope to create a safe space where we can laugh, cry and explore together. I am active and involved in our conversations, searching for questions that might help you come to new understandings of yourself, others, and your deepest purposes for life. I have studied many different approaches to psychotherapy, and I feel that my role is to understand what type of apporach might help you make the changes that you desire--rather than trying to make you fit into my theories! I have a profound belief in the goodness of most people. As one of my famous teachers wrote, "I believe that the person is not the problem; the problem is the problem." Currently I am influenced most strongly by an approach called Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). During EMDR, we address all levels of a problem: the thoughts and beliefs about yourself, the feelings, and the bodily experience of painful past events--both "Big T" traumas that you experienced as life-threatening, or "little t" traumas" that result in emotional pain and self-doubt. Probably because we work holistically at all these levels (thoughts, feelings, and body), research has shown EMDR to be a powerful tool--often more powerful than traditional "talk therapy" alone--for resolvling emotional difficulties. It can even help you get over fears of driving or being in cars after an auto accident!

Areas of Expertise:
I have a general psychotherapy practice serving those confronting family dilemmas, life transitions, depression, anxiety, PTSD, panic attacks or bipolar disorder. I specialize in helping women and men facing the emotional difficulties of pregnancy and the post-partum or post-adoption period, and those experiencing the emotional trauma of infertility. I am honored to join and assist people on their journeys of recovery from childhood physical or emotional abuse, childhood neglect, traumatic injury, or exposure to war or natural disaster.
